A study on Attitude towards Health Education of Collega Applicants

Abstract
For 1017 applicants 725 males and 292 females) to Chonnam University 1971, an assessment of their knowledge on health and their attitudes towards the health education -which will be given at college was made in this study. Following are the results:
1. A majority of the applicants approved the necessity of Health education at college.Females approved more positively than males, and social science applicants more than natural science applicants.
2. The most prevalent reason for the necessity of health education was to obtain exact knowledge on health, followed by physical strengthening and by prevention of diseases.
3. In general, they wanted to be taught on health by physicians, rather than by teachers majoring other subjects.
4. The control of infectious disease was the most understood, subject among the public health fields, followed by human physiology and by food and nutrition. Females understood more about food and nutrition. On the other hand, they are almost ignorant of subjects regarding environmental sanitation and nuisance, accidents and occupational diseases.
5. Control of communicable diseases, elimination of fake drugs, and nuisance control were indicated by male students as subjects which must be urgently solved, while control of fraudulent foods and environmental sanitation were pointed out by females. But, none painted out the prevention of traffic accidents or medical care system as the most urgent subject.
